This year’s Art Show was definitely for the birds! Pre-school and K-1 students painted individual feathers which were assembled into a pair of Giant Wings. This collaborative interactive art piece now hangs in our cafeteria where anyone can become a flying creature by standing in front of it! Grade 1 made colorful, Cool Chicken Collages complete with feathers which paired nicely with the Parrot Paintings from grade 2. Grade 3 used their graph enlarging skills to create Bird Close-Ups and grade 4 relied on their architectural sense to transform recycled materials into Bird Houses for our feathered friends. In grade 5 students designed and sculpted wonderful Bird Bottle Sculptures inspired by Polish artist Barbara Kobylinksa using plaster wrap and acrylic paint. Grade 6 used donated recycled paper to make life-sized flying owls in the style of Harry Potter, whose talons held wax sealed letters announcing their 7th grade school of choice. All of the fabulous art can be viewed at Artsonia.com
