This year’s Art Show was definitely for the birds! Pre-school and K-1 students painted individual feathers which were assembled into a pair of Giant Wings. This collaborative interactive art piece now hangs in our cafeteria where anyone can become a flying creature by standing in front of it! Grade 1 made colorful, Cool Chicken Collages complete with feathers which paired nicely with the Parrot Paintings from grade 2. Grade 3 used their graph enlarging skills to create Bird Close-Ups and grade 4 relied on their architectural sense to transform recycled materials into Bird Houses for our feathered friends. In grade 5 students designed and sculpted wonderful Bird Bottle Sculptures inspired by Polish artist Barbara Kobylinksa using plaster wrap and acrylic paint. Grade 6 used donated recycled paper to make life-sized flying owls in the style of Harry Potter, whose talons held wax sealed letters announcing their 7th grade school of choice.
